The HAVEN Bakery
After two longer delays, we were finally able to open the new HAVEN bakery at the beginning of June. A spacious professional bakery, which we could build and furnish thanks to your help.
Full of enthusiasm Paul got to work right away, testing recipes and training our apprentices and employees.
Many have discovered their love for baking already.
For the time being we will be making bread and cakes for our own use at HAVEN. Our range includes delicious Ciabatta breads and burger buns. In addition, we have refined the recipes and presentations of our cakes, which is very well received by our guests.
We are delighted to offer honest and nice products, and will now be constantly testing new recipes and expanding our range so that in the future we will be able to supply other restaurants and hotels with delicious fresh bread.
Year after Year
On the 26th of August, 2017, we will celebrate the graduation of our 2016/17 apprentices.
That is why they are currently all diligently preparing their CV's and interviews. We are proud to work again with the Park Hyatt Siem Reap, Amansara, Navutu Dreams Resort and the Sojourn Boutique Villas, which offer our graduates internships and thus help them make the next big step into the professional world. We have also found new partners this year with the Baby Elephant Boutique Hotel, the Sarai Resort & Spa and the Hotel 20th Street.
So while our youngsters are becoming independent, we are in the middle of the application process for the new training year. And I can tell you one thing: it is not easy. Because this year we have so many applicants as never before - and they all want to be cooks.
Although it is always very difficult to make a decision, it is nevertheless a very special time for us. To sit with the many young people from the various organizations and to get to know them and their stories always reminds us of why we started looking for a solution for these young people back in 2008 and thus founded HAVEN for them then in 2011.
I always tear up when a decision is made and we get to tell the young adult that he/she has passed the interview and is accepted to the next HAVEN training year. To see how their facial expressions change and hope shines from their eyes is indescribable.
The final decisions are not yet made and therefore we do not have pictures of all new apprentices yet. But we are happy to introduce you to the first ten happy faces here.

In the last month HAVEN has made it into several publications. We were recommended in the Huffington Post, we're featured with a great article in the Chinese Inflight Magazine of Hainan Air, and we have received a lovely write-up and super rating for our HAVEN cookbook on visit-angkor.org.
